How it works

 

The shunt reactor is an absorber of reactive power, thus increasing the energy efficiency of the system. It is the most compact device commonly used for reactive power compensation in long high-voltage transmission lines and in cable system. Frank Acoustics has modified this system using a proprietary system for domestic abodes. The Frank Ultra Bank Storage component is essentially a scaled down version of this unique system for maintaining AC power to your Hi-fi system.

In operational use

 

There are two typical operational modes in which you can deploy the FRANK  Ultra Bank within your system where:

 

  • Option 1 is connected in parallel to the AC lines in your abode that is shared by your existing system. This means plugging the FRANK Ultra Bank into an unused AC outlet preferably near your AV/Hifi system. It does not have to be connected to the same AC spur as your AV/Hifi System from your DB (Distribution Box). As long as the FRANK Ultra Bank is on the same phase, any electronic or electric device will benefit from the effect of the FRANK Ultra Bank

 

  • Option 2  is connected directly to the outlet off the FRANK Ultra Bank . The FRANK Ultra Bank  comes with a pair power outlets with an inbuilt EMI filter for the earth/ground. This also allows you to experiment with different varieties of power cords and power strips - we have no recommendations on this but trust that you will have some favourites that you may want to use with the FRANK Ultra Bank.

 

  • The FRANK UB-25000Ws has been factory run in for around a 50 hours during QC. However we have found from our existing users that the unit(s) takes about 700 to 800 hours to fully settle into your system. So please be patient during this time. However, fresh out of the box, the UB-25000Ws will require at least 6 hours for the induced magnetic field to fully saturate the Shunt Autotransformers in the FRANK UB-25000Ws. As such, we recommend that you leave the FRANK UB-25000Ws energised permanently for your system perpetually. In instances where you are not using the system for prolong periods of time, the FRANK UB-25000Ws can be unplugged from the system. Just remember to allow the same period of 6 hours for re-energising the FRANK UB-25000Ws.

  • You may want to experiment with different powercords and powerstrips to see what sort of effect it has on your system. It may be a good idea to cultivate a circle of similar minded audio buddies and friends whom you can swap or borrow cables from. Also remember to invite them to listen to what their cables can sound like over the FRANK UB-25000Ws.

  • It is highly recommended that the FRANK UB-25000Ws should be placed on a hard floor surface for best results. Should the area where you intend to place the FRANK UB-25000Ws be a carpeted area, we recommend that you use some high quality audio grade isolating spikes or footers for interfacing the FRANK UB-25000Ws to the floor. However we would advise against the use of soft-pliant-type footers as this category of supports may be detrimental to sound or picture quality of your Hifi/AV system.
